چکیده

This paper presents a statistical/symbolic hybrid morphological analysis, called V-morph, for large scale speech and natural language integration for Korean. In the V-morph approach, statistical Viterbi-based lexical decoding and symbolic morphological modeling are integrated together on top of connectionist phoneme recognition engine. Linguistic characteristics of Korean are appropriately considered in this speech and language modeling. Unlike word-based speech and language integration for most of the Indo-European language researches, we developed a morpheme-graph as a speech and language integration model for agglutinative languages. Preliminary experiments on morpheme spotting and sentence recognition based on connectionist phoneme recognition results verify that the V-morph and morpheme-graph are viable for complex integrated speech and natural language processing, and the approaches can be extended to other morphologically-complex agglutinative languages such as Japanese.

Morpheme Graph Construction for Speech and NaturalLanguage

This paper describes a morphological analysis method of continuous spoken Korean to solve the integration problem of speech recognition and natural language processing. The method centers on a Viterbi search-based morphological analysis on top of speech signal processing and MLP-based phone recognition. The main contribution of this paper is to introduce a Viterbi search-based morphological ana...

Integrated speech and morphological processing in a connectionist continuous speech understanding for Korean

A new tightly coupled speech and natural language integration model is presented for a TDNN-based continuous possibly large vocabulary speech recognition system for Korean. Unlike popular n-best techniques developed for integrating mainly HMM-based speech recognition and natural language processing in a word level, which is obviously inadequate for morphologically complex agglutinative language...

Integrating connectionist, statistical and symbolic approaches for continuous spoken Korean processing

This paper presents a multi-strategic and hybrid approach for large-scale integrated speech and natural language processing, employing connectionist, statistical and symbolic techniques. The developed spoken Korean processing engine (SKOPE) integrates connectionist TDNN-based phoneme recognition technique with statistical Viterbi-based lexical decoding and symbolic morphological/phonological an...

Phoneme-level speech and natural language intergration for agglutinative languages

Session 8: Spoken Language Systems II

Mike Philips of MIT presented recent progress on the VOYAGER system. In particular, MIT has incorporated a "top-N" approach to increase the level of integration between speech and natural language. They use Viterbi search to compute the upper bound estimate for an A* search. Readers should contrast this with papers from BBN and AT&T in the first SLS session. MIT has also developed an interestin...
